FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New 24-Port Gigabit Embedded Switch from GE Fanuc VENTURA, Calif. - September 16, 2003--
GE Fanuc Automation Americas, Inc., an affiliate of GE Industrial Systems, has introduced the AT920, a new 24-port Gigabit embedded switching platform that supports the
PICMG® 3.0 R1.0 Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) specification for switched fabric Ethernet. With this new switch, users can now route packets at wire speed rates of 1000 Mbps with minimal latency. Designed to the dual-star configuration and fully supporting hot swap and live insertion, the AT920 is ideal for applications requiring reliability and redundancy such as within the central office. "This new, industry-leading generation of switching devices complements GE Fanuc's range of managed and unmanaged switches based on the PICMG 2.16 specification," explained Douglas Albert, vice president, embedded systems, GE Fanuc Automation. "The AT920 platform will serve customers who are looking to implement AdvancedTCA features - primarily within the central office arena where higher density and throughput are prerequisites." Innovative Switch Offers Higher Density and Throughput for Central Office Applications
The new AT920 Base Hub Board provides up to 16 Gigabit ports to the base interface for management and data transport. One of these ports is routed to the shelf manager controller. A further eight Gigabit Ethernet ports are routed to Zone 3 for rear I/O access and designed to mate with GE Fanuc's Rear Transition Module (RTM) providing eight RJ45 connectors.
A Layer 3 level switch, the AT920 is a high-level solution capable of being managed via serial console, SNMP, Telnet or a web server interface. The management software capabilities include: QoS on Layers 2/3 and 802.1p tag; 802.3x flow control and back pressure, packet filtering, link aggregation, 802.3ad, 802.1Q VLAN standard, rapid spanning tree, broadcast storm control and port mirroring. The advanced processor implemented on the AT920 offers ToS/DiffServ, rate limiting, policing, priority tagging and remapping.
The AT920 is scheduled for general availability in October 2003.
